Sick and Tired of Traffic Congestion
in Lake County and Beyond?

  • It's only getting worse...
  • It's creating frustration, wasting time and gasoline, and polluting the environment...
  • It's already decreasing the quality of life in Lake County, and soon will threaten our economy, too...

You have a choice:

  • You can believe the people who say that "road building creates more congestion," and wait to see if doing nothing will somehow solve the problem by itself...
  • You can say, "It's not my problem," and hope that someone else will do something about it...
  • You can give up, and move away...

OR, you can join the fight to

Build Route 53 Now

and to make the other necessary improvements to Lake County's transportation infrastructure so that we'll have a livable and prosperous Lake County now, and in the future.

Congratulations—You Did It

You—the voters of Lake County—made your voice heard. By a 3-to-1 margin, you told the politicians: BUILD 53 NOW!

The results are in. In what the Daily Herald calls a "crushing" margin, the people of Lake County voted to extend Route 53. Over 75% of the votes counted said "yes"! That kind of "landslide" is rare for any referendum.

Hopefully, those in power will listen to those who elected them.

But the fight isn't over—it's just beginning. 53's opponents are few in number, but have lots of money and back-room clout behind them. So we'll need to keep the momentum going.

Today, however, is a day for celebration. You did it, Lake County, and we at build53.com can only say "thank you" to each and every one of you who took time out of your busy schedule to make your voice heard. Together, as concerned Lake County citizens, we've achieved a result we can all be proud of.

About This Site

For several years, the Build 53 effort has been stuck in "limbo"—and so has the Build 53 site. It's definitely in need of a facelift!

Now, the prospect of obtaining Federal money to build badly needed roads in Lake, McHenry, and Cook counties has breathed new life into the effort.

This site was independently constructed several years ago, and is still hosted by Advanced Business Systems Consulting Group, a leading provider of contract programming and database and Web consulting services in the Chicago area.

We at Advanced Business Systems wholeheartedly support the building of Route 53 and other badly needed roads. We'd be glad to help and support anyone interested in spearheading and leading a renewed grassroots initiative. If you're willing to provide leadership or just want to "pitch in," please contact our managing principal Ed Garrison by phone at 847-680-6328, by e-mail at garrison [at] absillinois.com, or through the ABS Website.
